Director Matthew Vaughn has brought I Am Legend<\/strong> screenwriter Mark Protosevich onto his Flash Gordon<\/strong> revival at Twentieth Century Fox.<\/p>\n

HitFix<\/a> is reporting that Protosevich made the announcement on his Facebook page, though it appears the screenwriter may have restricted access on who can see the post. According to HitFix, Protosevich boasted –<\/p>\n

I can’t wait to get started and if you’re curious about the take? I’m not saying a word. All I’ll say is this – it will be nothing like any version of Flash Gordon you’ve seen.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Although it is not specified in his quote, it sounds as if Protosevich is starting from the ground up with his screenplay for Vaugh and that the draft by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay that the studio had when Vaughn signed on as director will be discarded.<\/p>\n

Protosevich may not have many produced credits to his name, but he has been knocking around Hollywood for some time. He contributed a draft for one of the false starts at bringing John Carter Of Mars to the big screen that is reportedly quite a good read. He also wrote two different treatments for Steven Spielberg for a Jurassic Park IV<\/strong> attempt that never got off the ground. He also had signed to write a science-fiction film entitled Collider<\/strong> for J. J. Abrams and director Edgar Wright, but there hasn’t been any further news on that project since it was announced in 2012.
