We’re going to have to wait a little bit longer for the next big screen adventure of Finn, Rey, Poe and the rest of the cast of the new Star Wars<\/strong> trilogy, as Disney has just announced that the release of Star Wars: Episode VIII<\/strong> has been pushed back six months from May 26, 2917 to December 15, 2017.<\/p>\n

According to the Hollywood Reporter<\/a> –<\/p>\n

Disney insiders say the decision to push back the release of Star Wars<\/strong> comes after the blockbuster success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens<\/strong> over the year-end holidays. They say they have now decided to give Episode VIII<\/strong> the same Christmas treatment.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That sounds like a bit of corporate-speak to me, given that it was recently reported<\/a> that production on Episode VIII<\/strong> was pushed back a month to accommodate a rewrite of the script. Is it possible that Disney is anticipating even more delays to the film and are giving themselves a bit of breathing room?<\/p>\n

The move has Episode VIII<\/strong> set to open just two weeks before James Cameron’s first installment in his planned trilogy of Avatar<\/strong> films. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales<\/strong>, originally set for a July 7, 2017 premier, sail into Episode VIII<\/strong>‘s old spot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
