{"id":38239,"date":"2016-04-05T19:56:16","date_gmt":"2016-04-05T23:56:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/?p=38239"},"modified":"2018-12-05T00:04:26","modified_gmt":"2018-12-05T05:04:26","slug":"british-comic-actor-ade-edmondson-cast-star-wars-viii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2016\/04\/05\/british-comic-actor-ade-edmondson-cast-star-wars-viii\/","title":{"rendered":"British Comic Actor Ade Edmondson Cast STAR WARS VIII"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/ade-edmondson.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-38240\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/ade-edmondson.jpg\" alt=\"Ade Edmondson Star Wars VIII\" width=\"678\" height=\"381\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-38240\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>British comic actor Ade Edmondson is the latest edition to the <strong>Star Wars VIII<\/strong> cast.<\/p>\n<p>Reportedly, Edmondson impressed both the film&#8217;s director Rian Johnson and producer JJ Abrams, with Abrams looking to the pool of British actors for new cast members following his own positive experiences with them on last year&#8217;s <strong>Star Wars: The Force Awakens<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The news is being broken by the British tabloid <a href=\"http:\/\/timesleader.com\/news\/local\/527093\/wns-global-services-to-expand-and-increase-employment-at-hanover-industrial-park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Sun<\/a>, so I suppose that the usual cautions about the British tabloid press apply.<\/p>\n<p>If true, though, it could probably be one of the most unusual pieces of casting in the franchise&#8217;s history. <\/p>\n<p>Edmondson came out of the British alternative comedy scene of the late 1970s\/early 80s, a comedy companion to the  rise of punk music. He first gained national recognition as part of the casto f the groundbreaking comedy <em>The Young Ones<\/em> as punk college student Vyvyn. With fellow <em>Young Ones<\/em> cast mate Rik Mayall, he co-starred in the popular comedy <em>Bottom<\/em>. Appearing in Star Wars won&#8217;t be his first dramatic role.
