If the news that Robert Downey Jr will be appearing<\/a> as Tony Stark in Sony’s Spider-Man: Homecoming<\/strong> isn’t enough to whet your Robert Downey Jr news appetite, perhaps this will. The actor has confirmed that he will could begin shooting on the next installment of his other franchise, Sherlock Holmes<\/strong>, by as early as the end of the year.<\/p>\n

Speaking with the ShortList<\/a>, Downey Jr. stated that he is currently talking with franchise director Guy Ritchie about their plans for the third installment of the revisionist take on author Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic sleuth.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re talking about it right now. We can do some preliminary stuff. If we could shoot it on Skype, we could have the whole [movie] done in a week. When we\u2019re making those Sherlock movies it is off the hook. [So] we\u2019ll attempt to make one this year. It really is a big deal to go and do those movies. I\u2019m tired all the time, but I\u2019m so excited about it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The first Sherlock Holmes<\/strong>, in which Jude Law co-starred as Holme’s faithful partner in investigation Dr. Watson, was a big hit which immediately launched the 2011 sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows<\/strong>. Plans for a third film have been backburnered while Downey was busy with a number of other projects including multiple marvel movies.<\/p>\n

Downey stated that he would be meeting with Ritchie in the flesh when the promotional tour for his latest Marvel outing, Captain America: Civil War<\/strong>, brings him to the directors’ home town of London. Ritchie, in the meanwhile, is currently developing the King Arthur legends into a new film franchise for Warner Brothers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
