Marvel Studios may be in the midst of kicking of the the third phase of its interconnected movie universe, but Universal is still slowly unveiling their plans for their own interconnected cinematic universe featuring their collection of classic monster characters. The studio has just announced the latest date for their franchise – February 15, 2019.<\/p>\n

The studio is fairly secretive about how this franchise will unfold. The only actual title for the series that we know is The Mummy<\/strong> and that is probably due to the fact that that film is currently in production. Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella are starring with Alex Kurtzman – who, with Chris Morgan, is one half of the brain trust overseeing Universal’s monsters series – is directing.<\/p>\n

We’ll see The Mummy<\/strong> in theaters on June 9, 2017, but we have no idea what monster will be headlining Universal’s film scheduled for April 13, 2018 or the just announced 2019 date.<\/p>\n

Currently, the studio has three different monster films in development that we know a little about. Johnny Depp is attached to star in the studio’s new version of The Invisible Man<\/strong>, and if it has gotten at least as far as getting his interest, it may be the film that Universal is looking to slot into its 2018 release date. Meanwhile writer David Koepp is scripting a Bride Of Frankenstein<\/strong> film while Aaron Guzikowski is working on The Wolfman<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
