Although it didn’t do great business in its original 1999 theatrical release, writer\/director Troy Duffy’s The Boondock Saints<\/strong> found a very appreciative and rabid fan base on home video.A sequel bringing back stars Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus and Billy Connelly hit theaters in 2009. While it didn’t break out beyond its fan base, the question has remained if Duffy will have the boys back for a third go round as the as fraternal twin sibling vigilantes Connor and Murphy. It was an obvious question to ask of Flanery as we chatted the night before the Philadelphia WizardWorld show began.<\/p>\n

And unfortunately, the short answer is “I don’t know.”<\/p>\n

The longer answer is also pretty much Flannery not knowing. But he does offer some consolation that no news is not necessarily bad news. <\/p>\n

Reedus and myself haven’t spoken to Troy Duffy in, like, over a year. So we don’t know. But the last one came out of nowhere, so who knows. I have no idea. I know Sony really wants to do it. They really want to do a third badly. I think everyone would be down for doing one. We’ll see. I talk to Reedus all the time and he hasn’t heard anything either.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Not exactly encouraging, but it doesn’t complete rule out a third film either. Fans are certainly hoping for another follow up, given the circumstances of the the second’s film ending. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
