FBOL Head Honcho Rich Drees wrote a piece back in May <\/a>about people critiquing this film before they even saw it. I have had conversations with other people about this and how evil it was. But you know what? I often make up my mind about movies before I see them. And I’m going to use this new releases post to tell you why.<\/p>\n

Like or disliking something comes down to personal tastes. We all have stuff that we know we would not enjoy without having to do it. If you hate spicy food, you don’t need to eat more spicy food to confirm that opinion. You have enough experience with it to avoid it.<\/p>\n

I’m not a big fan of reboots and remakes, especially of legendary films such as this one. Seldom have I liked a remake at all, and never better than the original. I also really do not like Kristen Wiig as an actress. I know I am in the minority about that, but I find her a two-note comedienne. And while I like Melissa McCarthy as an actress, I have a problem with every film she’s in having a scene where she injures herself for comedic effect. She doesn’t need slapstick, and the slapstick I see crosses the line to me into plain ol’ uncomfortable violence against women.<\/p>\n

Once again, these are just my opinions, and they might differ from yours, but they are the\u00a0reasons why I am in no hurry to see this film in a theater. Granted, I am not in an apoplectic rage over this film even being made or castigate anyone who likes it, but I believe that prejudging a film before seeing it is normal and natural.<\/p>\n
