For the longest time, fans of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe have know that the films were all leading to a big event, an adaptation of the comic storyline Infinity War<\/em>. They announced<\/a> as such back in October 2014. Now it appears as if that story is getting at lest a partial name change.<\/p>\n

The Wrap<\/a> is reporting that Marvel has dropped the Part 1<\/strong> from the title of May 4, 2018’s The Avengers: Infinity War<\/strong>, with May 3, 2019’s The Avengers: Infinity War Part 2<\/strong> now being known as simply Avengers Untitled<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This past May<\/a>, Joe and Anthony Russo, who are writing and directing the two films, indicated that there would be a name change in the air, with Joe Russo stating “The movies are two very different movies… The intention is we will change it, we just haven\u2019t come up with the titles yet. But, yes, we will change it.”<\/p>\n

The initial Marvel plan was to shoot both films back-to-back this coming January. There is no word as to whether or not this is still Marvel’s intentions.<\/p>\n

But does this mean that the two films are no longer telling a story too big for one film? Not necessarily. The films could still have one larger arc that is broken into two films and there could be a very good story reason as to why the two films have a year’s gap between them. Marvel has been pretty good at rewriting the rules of how to run a franchise and this could very well be just another rule getting revised.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
