{"id":39263,"date":"2016-09-15T22:43:48","date_gmt":"2016-09-16T02:43:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/?p=39263"},"modified":"2018-12-05T00:02:39","modified_gmt":"2018-12-05T05:02:39","slug":"michael-giacchino-taking-rogue-one-scoring-duties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2016\/09\/15\/michael-giacchino-taking-rogue-one-scoring-duties\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Giacchino Taking Over ROGUE ONE Scoring Duties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Michael-Giacchino.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-39264\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Michael-Giacchino-678x284.jpg\" alt=\"michael-giacchino\" width=\"678\" height=\"284\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Composer Michael Giacchino is taking over the scoring duties for <strong>Rogue One: A Star Wars Story<\/strong> from Alexandre Desplat.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/heat-vision\/star-wars-rogue-one-replaces-929387\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Hollywood Reporter<\/a> is stating that Desplat&#8217;s departure from the project comes down to a shift in the post-production schedule, pushing the composing period back to a timeframe where Desplat already had a previous commitment.Disney and Lucasfilm then turned to Giacchino, who has a long history scoring films for the studio and its subsidiaries.<\/p>\n<p>This past summer, <strong>Rogue One<\/strong> underwent several weeks worth of reshooting under the supervision of writer Toy Gilroy. Reportedly the reshoots were &#8220;to clarify story and tonal issues for the pic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The switch now makes Giacchino and not Desplat the first composer besides the legendary John Williams to work on a live action <strong>Star Wars<\/strong> film.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Giacchino has scored the Pixar films <strong>The Incredibles<\/strong>, <strong>Ratatouille<\/strong>, <strong>Up<\/strong>, <strong>Cars 2<\/strong> and <strong>Inside Out<\/strong>. For Disney&#8217;s live-action film group he has <strong>Sky High<\/strong>, <strong>John Carter<\/strong> (based on the pulp hero whose adventures George Lucas pludered for ideas back when he created <strong>Star Wars<\/strong>) and <strong>Tomorrowland<\/strong> to his credit, while for their animation division he scored <strong>Zootopia<\/strong>.
