Zombieland<\/strong> director Ruben Fleischer is taking on another horror icon – the infamous Doctor Jekyll. The Hollywood Reporter is stating that Fleischer has been hired to helm a big screen adaption of the BBC miniseries Jekyll<\/em> which will star Chris Evans.<\/p>\n

The original 2007 BBC series from current Doctor Who<\/em> showrunner Stephan Moffat told the story of a modern-day descendant of Robert Louis Steveson’s infamous mad scientist who invented a formula for releasing one’s inner beast. That series starred James Nesbitt as Tom Jackman, the role Evans will be playing in this remake. Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry have written the screenplay for this adaption.<\/p>\n

It will probably be some time before this gets in front of cameras. Currently Fleischer has his Zombieland<\/strong> sequel for Sony and the alien comedy The Regional Office Is Under Attack<\/strong> on his plate first.<\/p>\n

This won’t be the only modern version of Dr. Jekyll running around on movie screens. Russell Crowe is playing a variation of the character in next summer’s The Mummy<\/strong> from Universal.
