\"Are<\/a>This past weekend, the UK newspaper The Guardian<\/a> had an interview with actor\/writer Dan Aykroyd where the topic of conversation turned to the possibly-finally-becoming-a-reality Ghostbusters 3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Aykroyd expanded on some earlier remarks<\/a> where he stated that there would bea new crew of young Ghostbusters, with more than one woman in the mix. It turns out that one of those women will be the new team’s leader.<\/p>\n

There’ll be a whole new generation that has to be trained and a leader that you’ll all love when you meet her. There’ll be lots of cadets, boys and girls who’ll be learning how to use the neuron splitter and the inter-planet interceptor – new tools to enable them to slip from dimension to dimension.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The idea of ghostbusters slipping from dimension to dimension is one that dates all the way back to the days when Aykroyd was first developing the concept. Originally, he envisioned groups of paranormal exterminators headquarterd around the world who could slide between dimensions. It was producer Ivan Reitman who counseled Aykroyd that it would be best to concentrate on three down-on-their-luck scientists who establish the business. Aykroyd revisited the dimension hopping idea when attempting to get his own draft of Ghostbusters 3<\/strong> off the ground several years ago. His version of a third movie had the Ghostbusters travelling to Hell, a dark, mirror image of Manhattan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
