\"\"Only one new release of note this week, but it’s a big one (pun intended).<\/p>\n

Kong: Skull Island (Warner Brothers, 3,846 Theaters, 120 Minutes, Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and for brief strong language, Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer at Press Time: 79% Fresh<\/a> [175 reviews]): <\/strong>King Kong is one of the classic movie monsters. Has been for over 80 years. By this point everybody knows the story by heart, so it is hard to bring something fresh and new to this. But they might have just done that this time.<\/p>\n

First off, instead of bringing Kong to civilization, we got to him. Second, it is set during the 1970’s, which means Kong is swatting at helicopters not biplanes this time around. It is also the second film in a planned shared universe–because everything has to be a shared universe these days–with the Godzilla <\/strong>reboot from three years ago (you might want to watch that one again before going to see this one). Finally, it has a great cast from top to bottom<\/p>\n
