Jeremy Renner will be sitting out the next assignment of the Impossible Missions Force.<\/p>\n

Showbiz 411<\/a> is reporting that the actor will not be returning to once again reprise his character of IMF Agent William Brandt in the upcoming Mission: Impossible 6<\/strong>. It has nothing to do with anyone being displeased with his work in the franchise. Instead, Renner has his schedule full with work for the other franchise that he appears in – Marvel Studios’ The Avengers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

M:I 6<\/strong> is gearing up for a shoot later in the year. But unfortunately, it’s production schedule falls within the time that Renner is required on the set of The Avengers: Infinity War<\/strong> and The Avengers 4<\/strong>, which are currently shooting back to back. Showbiz 411 seems to think that part of Renner’s Marvel commitments include some work on Marvel’s Ant-Man And The Wasp<\/strong>, though if that is true, his involvement in the Paul Rudd-starring sequel has not been officially announced.<\/p>\n

A number of cast members have cycled in and out of the Mission: Impossible<\/strong> franchise around star Tom Cruise. Renner has been a good fit for the cast in the two films that he has appeared in. Indeed, his debut appearance, 2011’s Mission: Impossible \u2013 Ghost Protocol<\/strong>, was supposed to be a transition film with him ultimately taking over the franchise from Cruise. But after Cruise decided to stay, Renner melded right in with the rest of the returning supporting cast in 2015’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

That isn’t to say that Mission: Impossible 6<\/strong> won’t still sport some name talent. In addition to Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg and Alec Baldwin are all returning for another go-round while Henry Cavill joins the group in an unspecified role.<\/p>\n

So is this just a temporary absence, or is Renner out of the Mission: Impossible<\/strong> franchise for good? There’s no real answer to that until we get around to the inevitable Mission: Impossible 7<\/strong> a few years down the line. Hopefully not, as his sardonic Agent Brandt brought a different type of levity to things that counterbalanced the slightly more manic, but no less welcome, comic relief from Simon Pegg.<\/p>\n
