\"Rogue<\/a><\/p>\n

Rogue One<\/strong>, the first Star Wars<\/strong> stand alone film, hits physical home video, aka DVD and blu-ray – tomorrow. And as was the case with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens<\/strong>, there are a number of different editions of the film available from different select retailers. Rather than spend your day running from Best Buy to Target to WalMart, we’ve compiled the details on the various releases here for you to make your decision and to save yourself some gas money.<\/p>\n

You’ll notice that none of the versions available have any deleted scenes from the movie. Director Gareth Edwards addressed the issue last month with Fandango<\/a>. Edwards explained that the film’s storyline was undergoing near constant revision during the post-production process – See all the news and rumors of reshoots – and that many of the moments that were seen in the various trailers but not in the final film were things that don’t lend themselves to being presented as cut scenes.<\/p>\n

There’s not an individual scene that you can drag and drop and put on a Blu-ray. There are little things that would come and go during the process of postproduction, but they’re not scenes. They’re more moments within the scenes or a single shot. So it’s impossible to be able to do that, and that’s why the decision was made.<\/p>\n

The stuff people talk about, like what they saw in the trailer, they\u2019re not scenes you can just put on a DVD. They\u2019re moments within scenes and threads, and you pull a thread and it all changes. It was changing the whole time. It\u2019s not like there was one version and then there was this other version \u2014 it was like this thing that incrementally evolved constantly through all of post-production and didn\u2019t stop until there was a gun at our heads and we were forced to release the movie.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

One sequence that underwent significant revision during post production was the film’s big third act battle on the planet Scarif. And while some shots from that version of the sequence can be glimpsed in various pre-release material, Edwards stated that an alternate cut of how it was originally planned to play out isn’t something that will be part of this or any future release.<\/p>\n

The visual effects were never finished on it. It’s not like there’s something sitting somewhere.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
