Unfortunately, the Tom Cruise-Emily Blunt starring time-travel themed science-fiction war movie was poorly marketed by its studio Warner Brothers. So poorly so, that they even attempted a partial re-brand of the film for its home video release. The film found enough of an audience through home video that it appears that a sequel might be in the works.

Speaking with Edge Of Tomorrow director Doug Liman, Collider is reporting that there is a solid idea for the sequel has been discussed and that all the principals are on board for a second film. And he also revealed what the title for that film would be.

We have an amazing story! It’s incredible! Way better than the first film, and I obviously loved the first film. It will be called Live Die Repeat and Repeat. Tom [Cruise] is excited about it, and Emily Blunt is excited about it. The big question is just when we’ll do it. But it’s not an if, it’s a when.

This is the first news we’ve had on a sequel since April 2016 when screenwriters Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse were announced as scripting the follow up. Liman has previously noted that a second Edge Of Tomorrow film would be “a sequel that’s a prequel.” Given the film’s twisty-turvey time-travel premise, that certainly raises some intriguing possibilities as to where the film may go.

I think Liman stating that the title for the sequel would be Live Die Repeat and Repeat is an admission that Warner Brothers rebranding of the film for home video with the tag line “Live. Die. Repeat.” helped in some way to push the film’s receipts into the black.

Edge Of Tomorrow seems to have had a rather tumultuous history when it comes to its title. The film started off life as All You Need Is Kill, the same title as the Japanese source novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. At some point during the production the films’ name was changed to the rather bland Edge Of Tomorrow.

Of course, we are still a long way off from the film receiving a greenlight, or even getting everyone’s schedules lined up. Cruise is currently shooting Mission: Impossible 6 while Blunt is at work on Mary Poppins Returns for Disney. Liman is developing Justice League Dark for Warners though it remains to be seen as to when that will go in front of the cameras.

The science-fiction sequel gets a title that sounds vaguely familiar.

[click for more]

[84
6580,9030

0":"post-40430","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-news","8":"tag-edge-of-tomorrow","9":"tag-edge-of-tomorrow-2
["GET
