It appears that Mr. Mignola knew something that he wasn&#8217;t letting on at the time.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FMikeMignola1%2Fposts%2F10155256693977521&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"220\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>That was what Hellboy&#8217;s creator posted on Facebook just a little under an hour before I am writing this. BOOM.<\/p>\n<p>One has to wonder if Mignola knew of this when he\u00a0spoke with del Toro months ago. While this project was kept a secret, stuff like this doesn&#8217;t just spring up overnight. If he did knew, that makes that\u00a0\u00a0 conversation del Toro said he had with Mignola earlier this year retroactively awkward.<\/p>\n<p>As for how the reboot makes me feel, well, it is a step up\/ step down in my opinion.<\/p>\n<p>I am slightly biased in favor of David Harbour (My wife\u2019s family is friendly with his family) but he is younger than Perlman, a better actor than Perlman (Harbour has a Tony nomination to his credit) and looks the part. Besides, after his work in <strong>Stranger Things<\/strong>, his stock in Hollywood rocketed up. He was in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2017\/03\/02\/david-harbour-latest-line-cable-deadpool-2\/\">competition for the role of Cable in <\/a><strong>Deadpool 2 <\/strong>that eventually went to Josh Brolin. So there is a lot of buzz behind his name. He definitely has big shoes to fill&#8211;Hellboy was a part Ron Perlman was born to play&#8211;but I think he&#8217;ll do well.<\/p>\n<p>As for Neil Marshall, well, he made a big splash with <strong>The Descent<\/strong>, but followed that up with the disappointing <strong>Doomsday <\/strong>and <strong>Centurion<\/strong>. He&#8217;s spent the last few years directing television shows like <strong>Game of Thrones<\/strong>, <strong>Hannibal<\/strong>, and <strong>Westworld<\/strong>. Not bad shows to have on your resume, but it comes up a bit light compared to the brilliant work del Toro has done over the same time.
