Director Doug Limon has dropped out of Warner Brothers’ long in development Dark Universe<\/strong>, an adaption of the DC Comics Justice League Dark<\/em> comic book series.<\/p>\n

Variety<\/a> broke the story.<\/p>\n

Insiders say the reason is schedule-related, as Liman is also attached to direct Lionsgate\u2019s \u201cChaos Walking,\u201d which recently received a greenlight. Sources say the studio has already started meeting with other directors and should have a replacement for Liman lined up shortly.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The film is just one of a number of comic book-based projects that the studio has been developing for its DC Comics Expanded Universe slate of films. This one would feature a team-up of a number of the publisher’s supernatural-based heroes including John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna and Etrigan the Demon.<\/p>\n

Currently, Michael Gilio is working on the screenplay for the film, though it is possible that it may undergo revisions once a new director is found.<\/p>\n

Also, look for a name change for the project at some point, as earlier this week Universal appropriated the Dark Universe<\/strong> name for their classic monsters cinematic universe which launches next month with The Mummy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
