One of the biggest questions left at the end of this summer’s Wonder Woman<\/strong> was what did the Amazonian princess superhero do with herself between the film’s World War One setting and when she appears in the modern day as seen in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice<\/strong>. It looks as if that query will be answered in the already in development sequel.<\/p>\n

ScreenRant<\/a> is reporting that a story for Wonder Woman 2<\/strong> is being developed that would be set in the 1980s, specifically “the film will send Diana against the forces of Soviet Union in the closing days of the Cold War.”<\/p>\n

Honestly, I find this a fantastic idea. It allows director Patty Jenkins, who is still not signed for the sequel but is currently working with DC Entertainment’s Geoff Johns on hammering out its story line, to further explore the character without being beholden to what is going on with the upcoming Justice League<\/strong> or other future DC Comics Extended Universe films.<\/p>\n

Screenrant also is reporting that Chris Pine will be returning for the sequel as Diana’s ally Steve Trevor. And that’s quite a feat considering the fate the character seemed to meet at the end of the first film. Of course, the nature of how that fate was depicted on screen certainly gives the filmmakers some wiggle room to bring Pine back.<\/p>\n

No release date has been set for Wonder Woman 2<\/strong>. Given that Wonder Woman<\/strong>‘s worldwide box office total hit $745.8 million, passing the $745.6 million brought in by DCEU installment Suicide Squad<\/strong> last year, you can be sure that sequel will be coming our way sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
