\"\"Disney had a panel from their animation arm at D23 Expo today, and it told us what to expect from\u00a0Incredibles 2 <\/strong>and let us know that there will be another film from Disney Animation in 2019.<\/p>\n

John Lasseter, chief creative officer of Pixar Animation Studios, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and DisneyToon Studios, came out and shot some of his trademark Hawaiian shirts at the audience before getting back to business.<\/p>\n

First was\u00a0Incredibles 2.\u00a0<\/strong>Lasseter stated that the sequel will start right when the first one left off. This means the film will start out with the family fighting the Underminer in the opening scenes. From there, we will be examining the family dynamic of the team:<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the unique things about The Incredibles is it\u2019s really a story of a family set in the world of superheroes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis one carries on that theme.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s awesome, the idea we came up with \u2013 simple as that.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe love to really look at our own lives and look at what\u2019s going on, and find themes that we know will resonate with the audience.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Incredibles 2\u00a0<\/strong>will be in theaters on June 15, 2018.<\/p>\n

Lasseter also announced that a new animated film. It will arrive on April 12, 2019 and take aviation to”the furthest edges of aviation,” space. Then he showed test footage from the project:<\/p>\n

Disney\u2019s John Lasseter gave the D23 audience a little taste with what he called the \u201cspeed test\u201d clip. In it, two planes speed over a desolate desert landscape. Then we see another plane (the space-capable Blackbird SR-71, but with eyes<\/em>) far above them \u2013 so far above, in fact, that it\u2019s actually in space.<\/p>\n

No further plot details were given \u2013 at this point, we don\u2019t even have a title. (\u201cIt\u2019s harder to come up with a title than it is to get to space,\u201d joked Lasster.)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The fact that this new film will be done by DisneyToon Studios and does not have a title has a lot of people confused, especially those that write for Bleeding<\/a> Cool<\/a>.\u00a0 However, it is fairly obvious that the untitled film will be a\u00a0Planes\u00a0<\/strong>sequel. Lest we forget, even though\u00a0Planes\u00a0<\/strong>was a spin-off of Pixar’s\u00a0Cars<\/strong>, it wasn’t done by Pixar.\u00a0Planes\u00a0<\/strong>was originally intended to be release direct-to-video, which was DisneyToon’s specialty. So it was done by DisneyToon. The\u00a0Planes\u00a0<\/strong>franchise was originally intended to be a trilogy, and Disney wouldn’t be creating a new anthropomorphic plane franchise when they already have one that is doing just fine. So, yeah, unfortunately the new film will be a\u00a0Planes\u00a0<\/strong>sequel.<\/p>\n

The other news coming out of the presentation is that Taraji P. Henson will be joining\u00a0Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It-Ralph 2<\/strong> as a character named Yesss. Lasseter showed a clip which shows us that Yesss will be Ralph and Venellope’s guide around the Internet. The sequel will also have cameos by a number of other Disney characters.<\/p>\n

Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It-Ralph 2<\/strong> is set for a March 2, 2018 release date.<\/p>\n
