After officially confirming that they will be making it last weekend at San Diego Comic Con, Warner Brothers has announced a release date for Wonder Woman 2<\/strong>. Audiences can see the next solo adventure of Gal Gadot’s superhero Amazonian princess on December 13, 2019.<\/p>\n

While Gadot is of course set to return, Wonder Woman<\/strong> director Patty Jenkins is still in talks with the studio over her reprising her job as director.<\/p>\n

A Wonder Woman<\/strong> sequel, of course, was inevitable. Although it opened with a debut weekend box office take that was a bit less that some of its DC Comics Extended Universe franchise compatriots, it has shown considerable staying power. In its ninth week of release it has earned over $389 million at the domestic box office, making it the second highest grossing film of the year so far.<\/p>\n

The December 13, 2019 date was one of a number of dates that Warners planted flags in for possible release dates last week<\/a>. That particular date was labeled for a “Warner Brothers Event Film.” The studio also staked out February 14, 2020 and June 5, 2020 as dates for as yet untitled DC Comics Extended Universe films.<\/p>\n

Between now and the release of Wonder Woman 2<\/strong>, fans can see the character as part of the superhero lineup in Justice League<\/strong> this November. After Justice League<\/strong>‘s release the only other DCEU film with a firm release date is Aquaman<\/strong>. That film is currently in production with Jason Momoa in the lead and aiming for a December 21, 2018 release. Warners has numerous other films in development for their DCEU comic book adaption franchise but have made no formal announcements as to which will be getting a greenlight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
