The film is a part of a planned extended universe featuring the Valiant characters. The film is set to be directed by Dave Wilson.<\/p>\n<p>Leto took over as the Joker for Warner Brothers in last year&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Suicide Squad.<\/strong> The thought was that would be start of multiple appearances in DC Extended Universe films. While actors playing characters in more than one company&#8217;s comic book franchise is not unheard of (see Evans, Chris and Reynolds, Ryan), playing two characters of this size and importance to the publisher is rare.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that Leto&#8217;s name is in consideration means Sony is serious about creating a franchise here.
