Earlier this year, it was announced that Disney was looking to launch its own branded streaming service and for content, it would be pulling its animated features from Streaming giant Netflix. At the time there was no word as to the disposition of the film’s from Disney subsidiaries Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm. Would they stay on Netflix or would they make the transition as well.<\/p>\n

The answer is here, and it might not make Netflix subscribers happy, as Disney CEO Bob Iger announced at an investors gathering that the planned service “will have the entire output of the studio \u2014 animation, live action and Disney including Pixar, Star Wars<\/strong> and all of the Marvel films.”<\/p>\n

Additionally, according to Deadline – <\/p>\n

There’ll be four or five original Disney-branded films made exclusively for the online service, as well as four-to-five original Disney-branded TV series. The app will also have Disney\u2019s film library of nearly 500 films, and 7,000 episodes from the TV library. The CEO expects to have “thousands” of shorts and “will produce more original short-form content” for it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The migration from Netflix to the new as-yet-untitled Disney service won’t happen right away. Disney isn’t even planning on launching it until 2019 at the earliest. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
