Now all they have to do is keep one around long enough to make the film.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/deadline.com\/2017\/10\/gambit-gore-verbinski-channing-tatum-x-men-spinoff-1202182926\/\">Deadline<\/a> is reporting that director Gore Verbinski is in talks to direct the Channing Tatum X-Men tie-in.\u00a0 He follows in the footsteps of Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt as director of the project.<\/p>\n<p>Verbinski is known for his work on\u00a0<strong>The Ring\u00a0<\/strong>and the first three\u00a0<strong>Pirates of the Caribbean\u00a0<\/strong>movies, so he has some major successes in the past. However, his last two films&#8211;<strong>The Lone Ranger<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>A Cure For Wellness<\/strong>&#8211;bombed at the box office, which makes his involvement a mixed bag. But he does direct charming rogues in frenetic action pieces very well, and that can go a long way on this film.<\/p>\n<p>No word as of yet what role Johnny Depp will be playing or what his makeup will look like.
