In a surprise move, director Ridley Scott will be removing Kevin Spacey from next month’s All The Money In The World<\/strong>, replacing his performance as billionaire J Paul Getty with Christopher Plummer.<\/p>\n

The move comes as just one more bit of fall out following numerous sexual assault allegations made against Spacey. Previously, the actor had been fired from his starring role in the hit Netflix series House Of Cards<\/em>. All The Money In The World<\/strong> had been scheduled to screen at the upcoming AFI Fest, but was removed from the schedule earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> is reporting that the decision to do the reshoots came from director Ridley Scott, with the full support of the cast, crew and studio Sony. Reportedly, Scott was particularly mad that –<\/p>\n

[T]he sordid allegations against Spacey might doom a film that Scott dropped everything to direct, and on which so many people worked hard and did not deserve to see the results hobbled in the marketplace because of the taint of scandal.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There is no word as to when these reshoots will happen, but it will undoubtedly happen fairly quickly as Scott is committed keeping the film’s current December 22 release date. Spacey originally spent eight to ten days working on the film, so presumably the reshoots will take the same amount of time. Film stars Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams are eager to cooperate.<\/p>\n

All The Money In The World<\/strong> tells the story of the kidnapping of J Paul Getty III, the grandson of Spacey’s character who famously refused to pay the kidnappers’ ransom demands even after he was sent his grandson’s severed ear.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
