The two teen girl sleuth co-stars of the classic Scooby-Doo<\/em> animated television franchise are getting their own live action feature film. Velma And Daphne has started shooting in Atlanta with Sarah Jeffery (Shades Oof Blue<\/em>) and Sarah Gilman (Last Man Standing<\/em>) starring respectively in the title roles.<\/p>\n

The film is coming from the production company of actress Ashley Teasdale and her sister Jennifer, Blondie Girl Productions.<\/p>\n

According to Variety<\/a> –<\/p>\n

Daphne And Velma<\/strong> tells the story of Daphne Blake and Velma Dinkley before they team up with Scooby and the rest of the Mystery Inc. gang. The mystery-solving teens are best friends but have only met online \u2014 until Daphne transfers to Velma\u2019s school, Ridge Valley High, stocked with high-tech gadgetry by the school\u2019s benefactor, tech billionaire Tobias Bloom. While their peers vie for a coveted internship at Bloom\u2019s company, Daphne and Velma try to uncover the reason why the school\u2019s brightest students are disappearing \u2014 only to emerge again in a zombie-fied state.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While I am sure that there is probably an automatic negative response that some folks will have to this feature, I really am not bothered by it. One, I was never that big of a Scooby-Doo fan outside of the Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated<\/em> series that ran on Cartoon Network from 2010 to 2013. But it seems to me that the franchise’s history has been littered with nothing but sequels, prequels and spin-offs from when it first appeared on Saturday mornings on CBS back in 1969. The franchise even famously crossed over into live action before with the two theatrical Scooby Doo<\/strong> films directed by Raja Gosnell and two additional direct-to-video features.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
