{"id":42181,"date":"2017-12-06T21:15:00","date_gmt":"2017-12-07T02:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/?p=42181"},"modified":"2018-12-04T23:57:37","modified_gmt":"2018-12-05T04:57:37","slug":"director-bohemian-rhapsody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2017\/12\/06\/director-bohemian-rhapsody\/","title":{"rendered":"Warner Finds New Director For BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/dexter-fletcher.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-42182\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/dexter-fletcher-678x340.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"678\" height=\"340\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Twentieth Century Fox has found their replacement director for their in-production Freddie Mercury biopic <strong>Bohemian Rhapsody<\/strong> in Dexter Fletcher.<\/p>\n<p>Fletcher is stepping in for Bryan Singer, who the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2017\/12\/04\/bryan-singer-fired-freddie-mercury-bohemian-rhapsody\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">studio fired Monday<\/a> after reports of conflict between him and star Rami Malek as well as being a no-show at the film&#8217;s London set since Thanksgiving. Singer countered in a statement that he was caring for a sick parent.<\/p>\n<p>Production is scheduled to resume on the film next week. It had been shut down last Friday, December 1, in the wake of Singer&#8217;s ten-day disappearance. During Singer&#8217;s periodic absences cinematographer Thomas Newton Sigel stepped in and directed several days to keep the production from falling too far behind schedule<\/p>\n<p>Fletcher started his career in front of the camera in 1976&#8217;s <strong>Bugsy Malone<\/strong> and has continued all the way up to the resent day with recent credits in such films as <strong>Stardust<\/strong> and <strong>Kick-Ass<\/strong>. He made his directorial debut with 2011&#8217;s <strong>Wild Bill<\/strong>. His most recent film was 2016&#8217;s <strong>Eddie the Eagle<\/strong>, a dramedy about the underdog British 1988 Winter Olympics ski jumper.<\/p>\n<p>Even though Fletcher is completing the film, he probably won&#8217;t receive an on-screen acknowledgement for his work.
