Director James Mangold’s planned biopic of heiress Patty Hearst has been cancelled by studio Twentieth Century Fox. <\/p>\n

The film, which had Elle Fanning and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II set to star, would have centered on the time when she was subject to a 1974 kidnapping by a group known as the Symbionese Liberation Army. Wile being held by the SLA for 19 months, Hearst claims she was forced into participating in several crimes, including an armed bank robbery, byy the group.<\/p>\n

The project was to have been based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book American Heiress: The Wild Saga of the Kidnapping, Crimes and Trial of Patty Hearst<\/em>. Earlier today Hearst slammed in a statement released by her publicist stating in part “American Heiress<\/em>, which cites one of my kidnappers as its main source, romanticizes my rape and torture and calls my abduction a \u2018rollicking adventure.’ <\/p>\n

“This project is attempting to rewrite history and directly flies in the face of the present #MeToo movement where so much progress is being made in regard to listening, and providing a voice, to those who have suffered abuse.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
