{"id":42757,"date":"2018-02-01T21:31:22","date_gmt":"2018-02-02T02:31:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/?p=42757"},"modified":"2018-02-01T21:31:22","modified_gmt":"2018-02-02T02:31:22","slug":"f-gary-gray-talks-direct-men-black-spinnoff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2018\/02\/01\/f-gary-gray-talks-direct-men-black-spinnoff\/","title":{"rendered":"F Gary Gray In Talks To Direct MEN IN BLACK Spinnoff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/F-Gary-Gray.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-42758\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/F-Gary-Gray-678x340.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"678\" height=\"340\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fate Of The Furious<\/strong> director F Gary Gray is in talks with Sony to direct their upcoming Men In Black spinoff film.<\/p>\n<p>The project is the studio&#8217;s way of continuing the franchise without having to pay a fortune for Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith to reprise their roles as Agents J and K for a fourth installment.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/heat-vision\/men-black-spinoff-f-gary-gray-talks-direct-1080888\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hollywood Reporter<\/a> is stating that Sony is looking to continue the <strong>Men In Black<\/strong> franchise with new faces but in a way that &#8220;somewhat acknowledged what came before,&#8221; much in the same way <strong>Jurassic World<\/strong> revitalized that franchise.<\/p>\n<p>This is Sony&#8217;s latest attempt to find a way to breathe new life into the <strong>Men In Black<\/strong> series. Previously, they were developing a film that would crossover with their comedic bog screen take on the 1980s TV series <em>21 Jump Street<\/em>. Although the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2016\/03\/07\/38082\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">studio was talking<\/a> with <strong>The Muppets<\/strong> director James Bobin in March of 2016, the project appears to be dead now.<\/p>\n<p>Gray seems to be a curious choice to follow Barry Sonnenfeld, who directed the original trilogy of films. Gray&#8217;s movies are more gritty action pieces compared to the balance of quirky comedy and action that Sonnenfeld&#8217;s work is generally known for.
