Universal is counting on people liking Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom<\/strong> when it opens this summer as the studio has announced a release date for a sequel, Jurassic World 3<\/strong>, for June 11, 2021.<\/p>\n

Colin Trevorrow, who co-wrote and directed 2015’s franchise reviving Jurassic World<\/strong>, will be co-authoring the screenplay for the upcoming sequel. He will be joined by franchise new comer Emily Charmichael. Charmichael brings some experience in writing about giant lizards having worked on the screenplay for this summer\u2019s Pacific Rim: Uprising<\/strong>. She also did rewrites on Disney\u2019s The Black Hole<\/strong> remake which is still in development with director Joseph Kosinski. Trevorrow wrote the story for Jurassic World 3<\/strong> with his frequent writing collaborator Derek Connolly.<\/p>\n

In a statement in the Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Trevorrow said –<\/p>\n

It\u2019s important to this franchise that we welcome new creative voices to keep our storytelling fresh and alive. I\u2019m thrilled with the tension and beauty J.A. has brought to Fallen Kingdom, and I know Emily will add another layer of emotion to the concluding chapter of our trilogy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But Universal can’t really be seen as jumping the gun here. The franchise reboot, Jurassic World<\/strong>, exceed expectations at the box office when it pulled in $1.6 billion worldwide. It is expected that the sequel, with returning Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard being joined by Jurassic Park<\/strong> star Jeff Goldblum, will most likely be nearly as successful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
