Here’s some news that may drive you crazy if you let it.<\/p>\n

Twentieth Century Fox is moving forward on a planned reboot\/sequel to the classic 1980 workplace comedy 9 To 5<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the original, Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton star as three harried secretaries who manage to turn the tables on their chauvinistic boss (Dabney Coleman) and uncover his scheme to embezzle money from their employers. According to Deadline<\/a>, the new version –<\/p>\n

[W]ould focus on three young women dealing with sexism and chauvinism in the workplace, who turn to the original trio for help in navigating and getting even with the course male higher-ups.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So far, the studio is looking to pair actress\/writer Rashida Jones up with the original film’s writer Patricia Resnick to co-script the new feature. But everything is in early talks, so no deals have been made for either the writing talent or for Tomlin, Fonda and Parton’s return.<\/p>\n

Despite the progress it would be nice to think that society has made, the current #MeToo movement is showing that there is still a problem with men who would abuse their positions of authority over women in the workplace. And while it would seem odd to reach back nearly four decades for a film to make a sequel from, it does appear, unfortunately, that the message of the original is still relevant today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
