The film was the frontrunner going into the annual ceremony, having received nomination in thirteen of the twenty-four categories awarded.

Dunkirk, director Christopher Nolan’s telling of the retreat of the British army from France during World War Two, took home three Academy Awards. The two awards and Three Billboards Outside Epping, Missouri garnered went to Sam Rockwell for Best Supporting Actor and Frances McDormand for Best Lead Actress.

There were not many surprises during the evening, with awards being spread across a number of different films that received critical acclaim throughout 2017. Although actress-turned-director Greta Gerwig’s solo directorial debut earned three nominations, it wound up being one of the only multiple-nominated films to go home empty-handed.

Here is the complete list of winners –

Best Picture
The Shape Of Water

Lead Actor
Gary Oldman – Darkest Hour

Lead Actress
Frances McDormand – Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Supporting Actor
Sam Rockwell, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”

Supporting Actress
Allison Janney – I, Tonya

Director
Guillermo del Toro – The Shape of Water

Animated Feature
Coco

Animated Short
Dear Basketball

Adapted Screenplay
Call Me by Your Name – James Ivory

Original Screenplay
Get Out – Jordan Peele

Cinematography
Blade Runner 2049 – Roger Deakins

Best Documentary Feature
Icarus

Best Documentary Short Subject
Heaven is a Traffic Jam on the 405

Best Live Action Short Film
The Silent Child

Best Foreign Language Film
A Fantastic Woman (Chile)

Film Editing
Dunkirk – Lee Smith

Sound Editing
Dunkirk – Alex Gibson, Richard King

Sound Mixing
Dunkirk – Mark Weingarten, Gregg Landaker, Gary A.
