The fantasy romance The Shape Of Water was the big winner at the 2018 Academy Awards, taking home four Oscar statues including Best Director and Best Picture. The film was the frontrunner going into the annual ceremony, having received nomination in thirteen of the twenty-four categories awarded.<\/p>\n

Dunkirk<\/strong>, director Christopher Nolan’s telling of the retreat of the British army from France during World War Two, took home three Academy Awards. The two awards and Three Billboards Outside Epping, Missouri<\/strong> garnered went to Sam Rockwell for Best Supporting Actor and Frances McDormand for Best Lead Actress.<\/p>\n

There were not many surprises during the evening, with awards being spread across a number of different films that received critical acclaim throughout 2017. Although actress-turned-director Greta Gerwig’s solo directorial debut earned three nominations, it wound up being one of the only multiple-nominated films to go home empty-handed.<\/p>\n
