Marvel Studios has done some creative, outside of the box thinking when it has come to the hiring of some of their directors. James Gunn and Taiki Watiti both seemed like odd choices to direct big budget superhero films, but the two Guardians Of The Galaxy<\/strong> films and Thor: Ragnarok<\/strong> have certainly been popular with audiences. So perhaps it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the studio recently held a meeting with Broken Lizard, the comedy troupe behind the cult comedy Super Troopers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Broken Lizard member and Super Troopers<\/strong> direct Jay Chandrasekhar broke the news to SyFyWire<\/a>, stating that the group has had a meeting with Marvel and that the studio was interested enough to send them copies of the Marvel Encyclopedia, which catalogs numerous Marvel Comics heroes and villains, to peruse for possible characters they might wish to bring to the big screen.<\/p>\n

They sent me the Marvel Encyclopedia and they said, what do you guys want to do? So, it’s upstairs. My kid’s going through it. And he’s going to make a list of what he thinks we should do, and I’ll go through it. I’m curious to see what a 13-year-old’s mind comes up with.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Chandrasekhar seemed excited by not only being asked about what kind of superhero film he might want to make (“[That’s] massive!”) but by the idea that superhero films don’t necessarily have to fit into one specific tone or aesthetic.<\/p>\n

I mean, look at Deadpool<\/strong>. You’re like, well I didn’t know you could do that. Great. Let’s do something like that. Right?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Now Marvel holds meetings with directors and actors all the time, always looking to see who might be a good fit with their own plans for their Marvel Cinematic Universe. Nothing may ever come from this. On the other hand, we may just get a comic book adaptation that doubles as a stealth stoner comedy. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
