Edition.” It appears as if as of now, only a DVD release is a certainty, although the possibility of a blu-ray or digital release has not been ruled out yet. There is no word as to whether a short theatrical run would precede the release. Previous films that have gotten singalong editions such as the 2007 version of Hairspray and Grease have made brief appearances in cinemas before arriving on home video.

Released in 2003, Elf stars Ferrell as Buddy, a human who was raised from a baby in Santa’s workshop at the North Pole believing he is one of the toymaking elves in residence there. When he is told of his true nature and parentage, he heads to New York City to find his real father, James Cann. In a funny variation on the classic fish-out-of-water/stranger-in-a-strange land tropes, Buddy unbridled optimism and Christmas joy at first goes against the grain of most New Yorkers, though he eventually warm to his holiday cheer.

Shot on a budget of just $33 million, Elf grossed just over $220 million at the worldwide box office. With a strong supporting turn in the comedy Old School earlier in the year, Elf cemented Ferrell as a top comedy box office draw. The film would go on to spinoff a Broadway musical adaptation and a 2014 animated television special.

The holiday favorite is getting a singalong version coming to home video.

[click for more]

[84
9975,356,422

0":"post-44296","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-news","8":"tag-elf","9":"tag-jon-favreau","10":"tag-will-ferrell
[2
["GET
