If you have been concerned about Todd Phillips\u2019 Joker<\/strong> film not having many close ties to the Batman mythos, well, here\u2019s some news that might put those fears to rest.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> and others are reporting that Oscar nominated, Emmy and Golden Globe winning actor Alec Baldwin. Has joined the the cast of Phillips\u2019 film. Sources say he has been cast as Thomas Wayne, father to Bruce Wayne, a.k.a The Batman.<\/p>\n

If this is true, it raises so many interesting questions. In the comics and in Christopher Nolan\u2019s Batman Begins<\/strong>, Thomas Wayne and his wife Martha were killed by an anonymous burglar named Joe Chill. Their murders, as we all well know, motivated young Bruce to become the Batman.<\/p>\n

However, in Tim Burton\u2019s 1989 Batman<\/strong> film, the murder of the elder Waynes’ was committed by a young Jack Napier, years before he eventually became the Joker.<\/p>\n

So, will Thomas Wayne leave this film alive? If not, will he be killed by the. Joker (Joaquin Phoenix)? And if so, will this film be a backdoor Batman origin film? And in particular, a prequel to Burton\u2019s film? Or will he just be a philanthropist who crosses paths with Phoenix’s character? Let the debates begin!<\/p>\n
