Eddie Murphy will be teaming with director Tim Story for a remake of the 1993 Grumpy Old Men<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The original film starred Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon as childhood friends who had a bitter falling out over a girl, which led to a rivalry that has lasted their entire adult life. At age 57, it is questionable if Murphy will be playing one of the two titular characters, or the son of one them, played by standup comic\/actor Kevin Pollack. Of course, this being Eddie Murphy, he could very well be playing the roles of both geriatric men while under prosthetic makeup.<\/p>\n

Story is perhaps best known for his films Babershop<\/strong>, the two Fantastic Four<\/strong> films from the early aughts and more recently the two Ride Along<\/strong> films starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube.<\/p>\n

Warner Brothers is set to release the film in conjunction with its subsidiary New Line Pictures, having produced the 1993 original. This marks another of the studio’s intellectual properties that it has revived in recent years following most recently Ocean’s 8<\/strong> and It<\/strong>. Story is also directing New Line’s Shaft<\/strong> reboot which is due out next year.<\/p>\n

So far there has been no word as to a screenwriter or a release date.<\/p>\n
