Producer James Gunn\u2019s latest project, the horror film BrightBur<\/strong>n, has been delayed. Originally set for release next month, it will now bow in theaters on May 24, 2019. Gunn serves as producer on the David Yaroevsky-directed film which stars Elizabeth Banks.<\/p>\n

The pushback of the film\u2019s launch by six months does not come as much of a surprise as there has been no promotion for it whatsoever.<\/p>\n

Gunn had been originally set to appear at San Diego Comic Con to promote BrightBurn<\/strong> last July, but when the Far Right-wing smear campaign against the director for his public criticism of President Trump launched that same weekend, his appearance was cancelled. That smear campaign led to Disney\u2019s kneejerk reaction to fire Gunn from directing the third installment of their Guardians Of The Galaxy<\/strong> film franchise which he launched for the Mouse House and Marvel Studios in 2014.<\/p>\n

It is unclear as to whether the date change is to put more distance between BrightBurn<\/strong> and last summer\u2019s ginned-up attack on Gunn or if the film still has some reshoots or other post-production work that needs finishing up.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
