One of the major criticisms of Venom <\/strong>was that Sony was that not including Spider-Man in the film was a mistake. Spider-Man and Venom were inexorably linked in the comics, and not having that dynamic in the film made the character some what lacking. It seems that maybe Sony has made note of that, and made some changes with Kraven the Hunter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The film’s screenwriter Richard Wenk was interviewed by Discussing Film<\/a> and was asked about the film. What he said was quite revealing:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just starting it. It\u2019s an interesting world. A great character. It\u2019s going to adhere very closely to the lore of Kraven the Hunter. And he is going to come face to face with Spider-Man. I\u2019m just beginning it, beginning the process, and because it\u2019s a big IP, Marvel world, there\u2019s lots of hurdles to overcome before you can start writing, to crack the right story and to get the right tone. It\u2019s a new world for me. But what\u2019s nice about it is it\u2019s a very grounded character, he doesn\u2019t have a lot of crazy superpowers and things like that so he\u2019s more grounded and that fits what I like to do. That\u2019s as much as I know.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You heard him! Kraven will “come face to face” with Spider-Man in his film. Or at least the first draft of it he will.<\/p>\n

While his connection with Spider-Man isn’t as direct as Venom’s (Venom’s origin is directly tied to Spider-Man), Kraven’s obsession with defeating the web-slinger became a defining aspect of his character.<\/p>\n

However, we must note that just because Wenk could put Spider-Man, Charlie Tuna and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in his first draft of his script doesn’t mean that they will appear in the final product. Script changes as production marches forward are the norm, and since Venom <\/strong>was relatively spider-less, it’s likely Kraven the Hunter <\/strong>will be the same.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
