Sony and producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are not set to rest on success of Venom<\/strong>. They are already moving onto the next film in the Spiderverse license, which will be Morbius.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The producing partners spoke with Collider<\/a> as part of the publicity rounds for Venom and talk turned to what they had planned next.<\/p>\n

Collider: There\u2019s a lot of stuff going on in the Spider-Man universe that Sony is hoping to bring to life. I\u2019m curious where you\u2019re at with some of these other projects, and what do you think might be the next one?<\/p>\n

AVI ARAD: Well, we know the next one.<\/p>\n

MATT TOLMACH: Morbius is the next one.<\/p>\n

So Jared Leto is definitely doing it?<\/p>\n

TOLMACH: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n

ARAD: Oh yeah. This is the great thing for us now, that an actor like him, and an actor like Tom wanted to have their own character. But the character they love. Both of them, very hard to get them to do a movie. You actually cannot get them. We went in, we sat with them, and everybody told us, \u201cOh, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba.\u201d Nothing. That\u2019s what he wanted to do.<\/p>\n

ALMACH: Tom, you mean.<\/p>\n

ARAD: Tom. And Jared, too. We went to this place with them, and he just\u2026good actors want to be different than what they are.<\/p>\n

Do you know when you start filming?<\/p>\n

ARAD: More or less, February?<\/p>\n

TOLMACH: Yeah, the plan is early part of next year. We\u2019re still working on it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So, not only is Jared Leto confirmed for the lead role in Morbius<\/strong>, but the film is set to start filming in early 2019, perhaps as soon as February.<\/p>\n

The pair hems and haws later in the interview over whether or not the film will be shot as an R-rated film or a PG-13 rated film, but I gather from the text that they are leaning towards a PG-13 film.<\/p>\n
