The film, which featured up-and-coming actor Michael Keaton as a stay-at-home dad struggling to learn the ropes of running a household, will be retooled into a streaming TV series by MGM in partnership with Walmart\u2019s streaming service Vudu. <\/p>\n<p>According to the announcement made at NewFronts West in Los Angeles, the new series will follow the grown baby daughter of Keaton from the original movie as she enters the workforce while her husband stays at home.<\/p>\n<p>No creatives have been announced in conjunction with the project. The original film was directed by Stan Dragoti and written by John Hughes.<\/p>\n<p>Honestly, isn\u2019t this a concept whose time has come and gone long ago? Mr. Mom felt dated even back when it was originally released. The idea of a dad trying to manage the household while his wife \u2013 in the film\u2019s case, Terri Garr &#8211; goes off to the workforce is more suited to a 1960s or `70s sitcom than a modestly budgeted comedy in 1983.
