Reports are beginning to circulate that Jumanji 3<\/strong> is gearing up to get into production in the new year.<\/p>\n

With last year’s Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle<\/strong> pulling in $962 million worldwide at the end of last year, Sony obviously wanted a sequel and was already in talks<\/a> with key players by February. But now, everything is set and a shooting start date of January 21, 2019 is being reported as penciled in on everyone’s calendar. The three month production will be centered in Atlanta, Georgia, although some shooting in Hawaii is expected.<\/p>\n

Stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Jack Black will all be returning, as will director Jake Kasdan and screenwriters Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner.<\/p>\n

Reportedly the biggest hurdle in getting the production start date scheduled has been Johnson. The always working actor recently wrapped production on Disney’s Jungle Cruise<\/strong> and immediately hopped over to work on the Fast And Furious<\/strong> franchise spinoff Hobbs And Shaw<\/strong>. Johnson also has an upcoming thriller Red Notice<\/strong> and a new season of his HBO series Ballers<\/em> in his immediate future.<\/p>\n

The original 1995 Jumanji<\/strong> starred Robin Williams as a man who was sucked into a magical board game as a child only to escape decades later, pursued by the jungle animals from the game. Last year’s sequel saw the game mutate itself into a video game, trapping four high school students inside in video game avatars personified by Johnson, Hart, Black and Gillian. Although it stands alone, Welcome To The Jungle<\/strong> did feature a couple of nods to the original film that suggested they were connected.<\/p>\n
