Disney’s streaming service, Disney+, has found itself a showrunner for its announced<\/a> Vision And The Scarlet Witch<\/em> series.<\/p>\n

Marvel has chosen Jac Schaeffer, one of the credited writers on their upcoming Captain Marvel<\/strong> film, to write the pilot and executive produce the series. In that capacity, she will also chart the show’s storytelling in conjunction with other writers yet to be hired. Schaeffer has also written the screenplay for Black Widow<\/strong><\/a>, which will feature Scarlett Johansson’s popular former-spy-turned-superhero character, which is set to start shooting later this year.<\/p>\n

The show will focus on the titular members of the Avengers, currently played on the big screen by Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen, who are expected to return for the streaming series. the pair have been an on-again, off-again couple in comics for several decades now, even though he is a synthetic being created by the evil robot Ultron and she is a human with the ability to alter probability. The two have headlined a number of miniseries that saw them work on their relationship issues while also fighting off the typical supervillain menaces one encounters in the Marvel Universe.<\/p>\n

Vision And The Scarlet Witch<\/em> is just one of a number of limited series that Marvel Studios’ film division, and not its television division, is developing for Disney’s new streaming service. Also in the pipeline is a series focusing on Thor’s meddlesome brother Loki<\/a>, played by Tom Hiddleston, and another series featuring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan’s Falcon and Winter Soldier<\/a>. That show has already hired Empire<\/em> writer Malcolm Spellman.<\/p>\n

While Disney+ is expected to debut next fall, there has been no word as to when any of these Marvel series will premier on the service.<\/p>\n
