Kevin Hart is in final negotiations to take the lead in Monopoly<\/strong>, an adaptation of the classic board game.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> is reporting that the comic actor will also be joined on the project by his Ride Along<\/strong> director Tim Story. The pair have a solid track record together, teaming up for three of Hart’s standup specials as well.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no released logline for the film yet, but I would imagine this will be two hours of Kevin Hart running around Atlantic City buying up property, building hotels and trying to avoid going directly to jail. (Yes, I know there\u2019s a Trump joke here.)<\/p>\n

But yeah, we\u2019re making movies out of board games now, apparently. Well, actually, Hasbro Studios, the filmmaking arm of the toy manufacturer, has been trying to get a Monopoly<\/strong> movie going for some time now with little success. The Truman Show<\/strong> screenwriter Andrew Niccol was at one point working on the project while Ridley Scott was attached to produce at another point. Given that there is no writer yet announced makes me thinking tha the studio has trashed any previously written drafts and are looking at bringing on a new writer, presumably to develop whatever idea Hart and Story brought to them that got them hired.<\/p>\n

Currently, Hart is heading back to off to star in another game-themed film, although this game is fictional, as he reports to work on the Jumanji: Welcome to The Jungle<\/strong> sequel that starts filming this month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
