(Hopefully.)<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Dark Knight<\/strong> scripter is teaming with Spyglass media Group to reboot the cult classic <strong>Hellraiser<\/strong> franchise. Goyer will be both producing and writing the project.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the Clive Barker novella <em>The Hellbound Heart<\/em>, the film centers on a married couple (Andrew Robinson and Clare Higgins) who inadvertently bring about the resurrection of the husband\u2019s dead brother whose return also paves the way for a group of demons called Cenobites, led by imposing, and aptly named, Pinhead (Doug Bradley). It is up to the husband\u2019s daughter from his first marriage (Ashley Laurence) to figure out a mysterious puzzlebox in order to banish the Cenobites back to Hell.<\/p>\n<p>The film captured the imagination of horror fans with its unique mythology of the Cenobites and their sadomasochistic philosophy. The franchise would eventually spawn nine sequels \u2013 three released theatrically, the rest direct to home video \u2013 as well as a number of comic book spinoffs.<\/p>\n<p>Goyer has a long track record for horror genre projects, stretching all the way back to 1992\u2019s <strong>Pet Semetary Two<\/strong>. Over the years he penned the screenplays for the <strong>Blade<\/strong> trilogy, adapting the Marvel Comics vamperic anti-hero, the franchise mashup <strong>Freddie Vs Jason<\/strong> as well as the two <strong>Ghost Rider<\/strong> films, which featured another of Marvel Comics&#8217; horror-tinged superheroes.
