Scarlett held the lead with three (Ghost World<\/strong>, The Spirit<\/strong>, and Iron Man 2<\/strong>) to Ryan’s two (Blade: Trinity <\/strong>and X-Men Origins: Wolverine<\/strong>) He tied it up when the spin-off Deadpool <\/strong>film was announced, and now has pulled ahead by signing on to play one of DC Comics’ most iconic heroes.<\/p>\n

The Hollywood Reporter \u00a0and Variety\u00a0are reporting that Ryan Reynolds has signed on to play Hal Jordan in the long awaited Green Lantern <\/strong>film. He beat out such heady competition such as Bradley Cooper, Jared Leto and Justin Timberlake.<\/p>\n

Reynolds on-screen persona is, in my opinion,\u00a0a perfect match for the cocky, authority-bucking Hal Jordan of the script, which was reviewed by us in February<\/a>. However, other denizens of the Internet have not been as kind.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For those of you worried that this will force Reynolds out of the Deadpool<\/strong> film,\u00a0relax. Deadpool <\/strong>is still in the early stages of development, while Green Lantern <\/strong>is scheduled to arrive in theaters in December of 2010.
