Ever since Jason Reitan revealed that he will be directing a direct sequel to his father Ivean Reitman’s classic comedies Ghostbusters<\/strong> and Ghostbusters 2<\/strong> that would reboot the franchise, speculation has indeed run rampant as to whether the original cast of the films would be returning in some fashion.<\/p>\n

We’re getting our first answer to that question from Dana Barrett herself, Sigourney Weaver, who stated in an interview in Parade Magazine<\/a> that she will indeed be returning. And in her answer, it appears she is hinting that some of the other cast will be back as well.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s also set to reunite with Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd in the new Ghostbusters, due July 2020. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be crazy working with the guys again!\u201d she says. She won\u2019t reveal any details except to confirm she\u2019s reprising her role as hauntee Dana Barrett.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Of course, by “the guys” she means Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson, the other stars from the earlier films. Their fourth co-star, Harold Ramis, passed away in 2014.<\/p>\n

Currently, all we know about the project is that it will center on a new generation of Ghostbusters who take up the mantle and home-brewed nuclear technology to defend the world from supernatural incursions. Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things<\/em>), Carrie Coon (Gone Girl<\/strong>), and Mckenna Grace (Gifted<\/em>) have been cast in the film already.<\/p>\n

While the studio has not yet confirmed Waever’s, or anyone else’s, return yet, we might get that confirmation this weekend as the officially sanctioned Ghostbusters<\/strong> Fan Fest is set to happen in Los Angeles with both Jason and Ivan Reitman, Aykroyd, Hudson and more in attendance.<\/p>\n

We can call the untitled Ghostbusters<\/strong> sequel when it is released next summer on July 10, 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
