Recently writer\/director Quentin Tarantino has been talking about retiring after his tenth film, not wanting to overstay his welcome as a filmmaker and bow out while he still feels he is at the top of his game.<\/p>\n

With his latest and ninth film, Once Upon A Time\u2026 In Hollywood<\/strong> just hitting theaters, some folks are starting to look ahead to see what the director has in store for his swan song. While in Moscow today promoting Once Upon A Time<\/strong>, he didn\u2019t reveal any indication of the story he might tell, but did give a hint as to what it might be about thematically.<\/p>\n

As per the Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Tarantino stated \u2013<\/p>\n

If you think about the idea of all the movies telling one story and each film is like a train boxcar connected to each other, this one [Once Upon A Time\u2026 In Hollywood] would sort of be the big show stopping climax of it all. And I imagine that the 10th one would be a little more epilogue-y.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Not much to go on, but it does give us an interesting way to start reappraising his films. What exactly does he mean by saying that his films could be telling \u201cone story\u201d? If we look at Once Upon A Time<\/strong> as a rumination of the director on his upcoming retirement as many have, then is his first film, Reservoir Dogs<\/strong>, a story about his own hot shot attitude and ambition for breaking into films? And if so, how do his other films fit into this biographical interpretation of his filmography?<\/p>\n

Once details begin to emerge about this final film I am sure we will start to get clues as to how to interpret this statement better. And that should make for interesting conversations and analysis going forward.<\/p>\n

Of course, we don\u2019t know what that final film of his could be. He does have that Star Trek<\/strong> project currently being written over at Paramount, but has indicated that if her were to direct it he might not count it as a film in his own collected oeuvre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
