Kevin Smith has the power!<\/p>\n

The Clerks<\/strong> writer\/director\/actor is heading up what sounds like a continuation of the classic 1980s He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe<\/em> animated series for Netflix. The announcement was made yesterday at Power Con, a He-Man-themed fan convention. The streaming service released a press release confirming the news shortly afterwards.<\/p>\n

Smith will executive produce and showrun the series, titled Masters Of The Universe: Revelation<\/em>. According to the press release, the show will be a limited series that will follow up on storylines left over when the original syndicated series ended its run back in 1985.<\/p>\n

Writers Eric Carrasco, Tim Sheridan, Diya Mishra and Marc Bernardin are all slated to be working on the series.<\/p>\n

Smith got a little punny in a statement \u2013<\/p>\n

The original He-Man And The Masters Of the Universe<\/em> series premiered in the fall of 1983 and ran for two season in syndication. Set in Eternia, a world where magic and high tech exist side-by-side, He-Man<\/em> centered on the adventures of Prince Adam, who would become the muscle-bound He-Man when he would hold up his magic sword and proclaim \u201cBy the power of Greyskull!\u201d He-Man would constantly be defending Eternia from the machinations of the evil Skeletor, who desired to take over the mysterious Castle Greyskull to seize the magical power within.<\/p>\n

Based off of a line of action figures that toymaker Mattel was putting out, the series was criticized for being nothing more than a glorified half-hour commercial for the toys.<\/p>\n
