One of the few negative things that stood out during Marvel Studio’s presentation at San Diego ComicCon last month was the lack of a Black Panther<\/strong> sequel on the announced schedule for Marvel’s Phase 4 films. <\/p>\n

That was corrected this weekend at Disney’s D23 gathering in Los Angeles as Marvel Studios’s co-president Kevin Feige announced that Black Panther 2<\/strong> has been scheduled for release on May 6, 2022.<\/p>\n

Black Panther<\/strong> director Ryan Coogler will be returning behind the camera and stated at the announcement that his production team is “taking their time with it,” in order to get it right.<\/p>\n

Of course star Chadwick Boseman will be back to play T’Challa, king of the fictional country of Wakanda who also possesses superhuman strength as his country\u2019s hereditary protector, the Black Panther. Boseman first appeared as T\u2019Challa\/the Black Panther in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War<\/strong>. Black Panther\u2019s solo film followed in 2018, with Boseman reprising the character for The Avengers: Infinity War<\/strong> later that year and this past summer’s The Avengers: Endgame<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A Black Panther 2<\/strong> film was pretty much a forgone conclusion. The character struck a chord with audiences and was propelled to a $1.347 billion worldwide box office take, making it the highest-grossing solo superhero film and the ninth-highest grossing film of all time.<\/p>\n

While some of the Phase 4 films will have connections to some of the series Marvel Studios is creating for Disney’s upcoming streaming app Disney+, there has been no indication if Black Panther 2<\/strong> will have any links to any of the Disney+ shows.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
