Gotham City is getting a new Commissioner Gordon.<\/p>\n

The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> is stating that Westworld<\/em> actor Jeffrey Wright is in talks to play Jim Gordon, Batman\u2019s main alley in the Gotham City Police Department in director Matt Reeves\u2019 upcoming The Batman<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This marks the project’s second piece of casting news following reports that Robert Pattison had been tapped to play Bruce Wayne, the apparent billionaire playboy who secretly fights crime as Batman.<\/p>\n

Reportedly, casting is currently in early stages for a wide variety of members of Batman\u2019s rogue gallery who are rumored to be slated for appearances in the film.<\/p>\n

When Bruce Wayne first started his career as a vigilante, Jim Gordon was just a detective on a police force overrun with corruption. But as time passed, he helped to clean the department up, eventually rising to the rank of commissioner. It has not yet been revealed where in the character\u2019s personal history this new film will be taking place.<\/p>\n

Previously, Gordon was played by J. K. Simmons in Zack Snyder’s ill-fated Justice League<\/strong> and by Gary Oldman in director Christopher Nolan’s three Batman films. On television, the series Gotham<\/em> spent five seasons charting the rise through the ranks of Jim Gordon in a Gotham City that had yet to see Batman emerge.<\/p>\n

With shooting being lined up to begin wither late this year or early next year, The Batman<\/strong> is set for a June 25, 2021 release date.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
