Writer\/director Kevin Smith has announced that he is going to take a second attempt at making Clerks 3<\/strong> and this time, everyone is on board with the project.<\/p>\n

Smith made the announcement this morning via Facebook and Instagram – <\/p>\n

As he mentions, Smith first tried to mount a second sequel to his career-launching Clerks<\/strong> a few years back. He had written a script and most of the original cast was reportedly game to come back, with the exception of one holdout. Smith eventually confirmed fans\u2019 suspicion that it was Anderson who was hesitant to once again visit the Quick Stop. And that reluctance on Anderson\u2019s part damaged their friendship for a time.<\/p>\n

More recently, Smith revealed that one of the concerns of his initial Clerks 3<\/strong> screenplay was that there were certain story elements that were perhaps too dark for his usual style. And based on what I have been told about the script, I would agree with that assessment.<\/p>\n

The news comes ahead of Smith heading out on a 60-date tour where he will be screening his latest ViewAskewniverse film Jay And Silent Bob Reboot<\/strong>. For this seventh installment in his series of interconnected comedies set in his home state of New Jersey, Smith has eschewed a more traditional release model and instead is having the film screen for two nights in theaters later this month through Fathom Events and then is hitting the road with one-off screenings around the country where he will appear and do Q&A sessions afterwards.<\/p>\n
